THE HISTORY BEHIND THE METHOD

 

Frida Kaplan was born in Buenos Aires (where she still lives at present) on May 24th, 1938. In 1986, she started studying Eutony at the Escuela Latinoamericana de Eutonía (Latin American School of Eutony), established by Berta Vishnivetz, to improve her acting conditions. She graduated in 1990.

In her early years as a student, her first grandchild was born in France. Frida travelled to keep her daughter company at that moment. When her daughter’s labor started, she was informed she had no dilation. At that time, Frida remembered something she had learned: using sounds as a resource to modify tonus, and through contact she began to make an "O" sound. That creative action made it possible to change the situation and the dilation occurred, avoiding a Cesarean section. That was when she started to develop "Embarazo y Nacimiento Eutónico – Método Frida Kaplan" (Eutonic Pregnancy and Childbirth –Frida Kaplan Method)

Since then, she has investigated and increased her contact with pregnancy and babies, and sharing that knowledge with mothers, couples, obstetricians, and training teachers in this method in her office and in public hospitals.
